Dr. Zwiener's expertise in transgender medicine makes Braeswood Endocrinology the best place to be.
Diabetes can be a difficult and time-consuming condition to live with.
While doctors can prescribe medications that help lower blood sugar levels, diabetes requires each patient to play an active role in the management of their condition. Unfortunately, many endocrinologists do not have enough time to thoroughly assist patients with the lifestyle changes necessary for optimum blood sugar control. Here at Braeswood Endocrinology, Dr. Zwiener will help you figure out not only what practical changes are needed, but will work with you to figure out how to implement them in a way that fits in with your busy life.
It can be difficult to find a physician who is knowledgeable about the unique issues faced by transgender patients.
Dr. Zwiener is committed to assisting transgender, intersex, and gender diverse individuals throughout their transition process. She is comfortable initiating and maintaining hormone therapy, can refer you to surgeons and/or mental health professionals if needed, will help navigate the name and gender-marker change process, and is happy to provide letters for gender confirmation surgeries. Her office is a welcoming environment: we will use your chosen name and pronouns, and will always treat you with the highest level of respect. Since she is out of network with insurance companies, your medical records will be kept completely confidential; they will never be shared with your employer or any other third party, unless you request them to be. Additionally, she can manage related aspects of your health, such as cancer screenings (mammograms, pap smears, and prostate exams) and basic primary care.
